Thea is a cook based in East London who also takes photos and draws. She lovingly ladles out stew at Dalston's Cafe OTO most days. When outside the kitchen, she takes pictures, draws, paints and makes prints sometimes with food waste. 

 

She is interested in combining cooking with art and is drawn to surreal/abstract image-making that amplifies the theatricality of everyday life and the oddities of familiar places. She works with analogue film, hand processing/printing, homemade inks, food waste emulsions/natural dyes and natural earth pigments. She collects recordings of bizarre/obscured everyday sounds to accompany her images and writes visceral texts to try to magnify how it feels to spend life looking closely.
